Wife Cake (Simplified Chinese: 老婆饼; Traditional Chinese: 老婆餅; Pinyin: Lǎopó bǐng; also "sweetheart cake") is a Cantonese bakery pastry with a flaky crust and translucent sweet winter-melon (or similar) paste filling—a classic of Guangdong Food pastry shops.[1]

Characteristics

Layered shortcrust or puff-like exterior; filling is mildly sweet and slightly sticky. Sold individually in Chinese bakeries.
