Anhui Food Brands
Anhui food brands include historic shops, regional producers and contemporary packaged-food companies. A brand is one part of a city's food history; it should not be mistaken for the only maker of a dish or for a universal version of a regional recipe.
Historic shops and local specialties
Hu Yumei is associated with Anqing broad-bean chili sauce and the city's documented sauce-making trade. In Wuhu, Gengfuxing is linked with shrimp-roe noodles and soup buns. Huangshan's Huiweihe and Maixiangcun names are associated with local pastries and Huizhou baked foods.[1][2][3]
Tea and liquor makers
Xie Yuda is a Huangshan tea company; its products sit alongside regional tea names such as Huangshan Maofeng, Qimen black tea and Taiping Houkui, which are made by many producers. Anhui's best-known baijiu companies have strong home-city ties: Gujing Gongjiu in Bozhou, Kouzi in Huaibei and Yingjia in Huoshan County.[4][5][6][7][8]
Contemporary food businesses
Three Squirrels is a packaged-snack company founded in Wuhu. Laoxiangji is a restaurant chain associated with Feixi chicken soup and home-style chicken dishes. These companies belong in a modern food-business directory, separate from traditional recipes and household cooking.[9][10]
