Egg Waffle (Simplified Chinese: 鸡蛋仔; Traditional Chinese: 雞蛋仔; Pinyin: Jīdàn zǎi; Cantonese: gai daan jai) is a Hong Kong street waffle cooked in a mould that forms a grid of eggy spheres—crisp outside and soft inside when fresh.[1]
Characteristics
Fragrance is eggy and lightly sweet; best eaten hot from the stall. Modern shops add flavors or ice-cream fillings, but classic versions are plain.
